Since obtaining her PhD in Psychology, Siobhan has developed considerable interest and experience in researching palliative care for people with neurodegenerative diseases; her current focus is on dementia palliative care. As a Co-investigator, her team was awarded funding from the Health Research Board to conduct the Model for Dementia Palliative Care Project, on which she is Project Manager (www.pallcare4dementia.com). The resultant Model will be useable by the HSE. She is also currently Co-Principal Investigator on a commissioned project for the National Dementia Office, advising on their diagnostic and post-diagnostic support pathways for people with younger onset dementia. Previously, Siobhan coordinated the National Guidelines for Palliative Care for People with Parkinson’s Disease, which are endorsed by key stakeholders (including HSE). She sits on an international working group for palliative care in Parkinson’s disease research which is led by Dr Benzi Kluger at the University of Colorado. Siobhan lectures on the MSc Dementia and MSc Older Person Rehabilitation courses in UCC.
