Dr Suzanne Timmons is a geriatrician and Senior Lecturer in the Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation, University College Cork. She has a special interest in health service research and quality improvement, especially in dementia, delirium and Parkinson’s disease. Her research programmes span palliative care, psychotropic prescribing, and exercise interventions. She is co-investigator on 3 EU projects, and PI on numerous national projects. She has published over 90 research papers, 4 book chapters, 5 national reports and 5 clinical guidelines and has been a key influencer of dementia policy in Ireland. Research metrics include: H index 22; i10 index 36; €1.5 million grant income as PI; €5.7 million as co-investigator. She established and is Programme Director for the highly successful interdisciplinary MSc in Older Person Rehabilitation and the MSc in Dementia programmes in UCC. Dr. Timmons has been the Clinical Lead for the Health Service Executive’s National Dementia Office since 2017.
