Dr Rónán O’Caoimh is a Consultant Geriatrician in Mercy University Hospital Cork. A graduate of University College Cork, he has also completed a PhD in Medicine (University College Cork), an MSc in Geriatric Medicine (Keele University) and MPH (University of Edinburgh). He is the honorary secretary of the Irish Society of Physicians in Geriatric Medicine, co-chair of the frailty subgroup of the National Clinical Programme for Older People and Irish Frailty Network, and coordinator for the A3 frailty subgroup of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing. He has been involved in several EU-funded frailty projects including the FP-7 funded PERSSILAA trial and the ongoing 3rd Health Programme-funded Joint Action on Frailty Prevention, ADVANTAGE. His research interests include dementia, MCI, screening, frailty and advance care planning.
