Dr Silvia Gonella is a Registered Nurse and has worked as a clinical nurse in oncological and medical settings. She is currently responsible for research activities at the City Hospital of Health and Science of Turin (Italy). Silvia got a research scholarship in Nursing Science at the University of Verona in 2014 and is attending her Ph.D. in Nursing Studies and Public Health at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. She got her Master of Science in Nursing and Midwifery in 2013 and her Post-graduate specialization diploma in Bioethics in 2016. She was involved in the long-distance learning program for nurses (SAEPE, 2014-2015) and was a member of the scientific board for the educational project in Supportive Care Educational Resource (2015). Silvia is an editorial board member of the journal of the National Association of Nurse Specialists in Infectious Risk (ANIPIO). She has lectured in research methodology, evidence-based nursing, and palliative care nursing at the University of Turin as well as at the University of Verona. Her main research areas are end-of-life communication in nursing homes, symptom management in cancer patients, and improving nursing students’ clinical learning experiences. She has authored more than 40 publications in national and international journals and is a reviewer of several international journals.
